Takashi Murakami

The Andy Warhol of Japan

Takeshi Murakami, known as the "Andy Warhol of Japan," creates his quirky, one-of-a-kind figures and artwork by drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese painting. Murakami blurs the barriers between high art and low culture, East and West, the past and present by using both conventional media, like as painting and sculpture, as well as commercial media, including fashion and animation.

Korin, The Time Of Celebration

White Frame Included

'Korin: The Time of Celebration,' a celebration of both past and present Japanese cultural identity, is a master at injecting his own vivid aesthetics. This series is a tribute to the Rinpa School of Japanese painting, which was founded by Ogata Korin, an Edo painter. The Rinpa school is noted for its precise design and workmanship, as well as the use of natural materials. Murakami's powerful aesthetic is able to smoothly merge elements of Rinpa style, such as the tree in the midst of the picture and the crimson flowing river in the background. Murakami's distinctive smiling flowers, vibrant colors, and digitally produced textures all come together in this work to make it a Murakami signature.
